Tara Trimble Identified in Viral Lockport, New York Video Showing Her Locking 80-Year-Old Mother With Dementia Out of the House as Neighbors Say Police and APS Have Been Called Repeatedly

Video filmed by a neighbor in Lockport, New York, has gone viral after it showed a woman physically handling her elderly mother and locking her outside the house. The younger woman has been identified in the original post as Tara Trimble, who has since denied wrongdoing in the comments section of the viral post. No charges have been filed, and police and Adult Protective Services have not released an official statement on the status of any investigation as of this writing.

What the Video Shows

The footage, posted October 7, 2026, by a neighbor identified as Kimber Jean DeClerck, has been shared thousands of times and sparked widespread outrage online.

In the first clip, an elderly woman wearing a green shirt and red hat is on the stone porch of a house. A younger woman in a light-colored dress physically guides her, bending her over the porch railing, then goes inside and locks the front door behind her. The elderly woman is left outside, knocking on the door and audibly pleading, “help me.”

A second video, filmed from across the street, shows the elderly woman still locked out and walking toward parked cars. The younger woman briefly opens a car door but does not let her inside. Neighbors can be heard in the background saying police are on the way.

The Neighbor’s Account

According to the caption accompanying the video, the elderly woman is in her 80s and has dementia, and the incident is described as part of a pattern of ongoing mistreatment. The post states that police have been called to the home repeatedly and that an Adult Protective Services case is currently open, but that no arrest has been made because of a lack of visible physical injuries.

The video itself documents the porch incident directly — Trimble physically handling her mother and locking her out is visible on camera, not in dispute. What has not been independently confirmed by Lockport Police or Niagara County APS is the broader context the neighbor provides: the exact number of prior police calls, the current status of the APS case, and the specific reason no arrest has been made.

In the original post, the neighbor who filmed the video wrote, in part:

“In no way have I instructed anyone to threaten or harass Tara, however people are doing so and messaging the wrong person… Yes we contacted the police for the millionth time, yes I have an open case with adult protective services on her. Unfortunately no arrest was made because her mother not only has nobody else to care for her but also because she doesn’t have any ‘physical’ injuries but at least for once the police are listening and taking into account the fact that her mother is NOT safe in her care… I’ve posted info before in the Lockport page and have had several people message me and comment that they have witnessed the same things with her.”

Public Reaction and Trimble’s Response

The comment section on the viral post has been overwhelmingly critical of what viewers see in the footage, with many expressing sympathy for the elderly woman and urging others to report concerns to Adult Protective Services. A smaller number of commenters criticized the person filming for not physically intervening in the moment.

Tara Trimble has reportedly appeared in the comments herself, denying wrongdoing, which has led to heated exchanges between her and other commenters online.

How Elder Abuse Cases Are Handled in New York

Elder abuse allegations in New York are investigated jointly by local law enforcement and Adult Protective Services. It’s common for an APS case to remain open while welfare checks and further investigation continue, even in situations where no immediate arrest is made — meaning an open case alone does not necessarily indicate the outcome of any investigation.

As of publication, no official statement has been released by Lockport Police or Niagara County APS confirming the status of any investigation or whether charges are being considered.

What’s Next

The video footage of the porch incident speaks for itself and is not in dispute. What remains unconfirmed is how authorities plan to respond — whether that results in criminal charges, continued APS intervention, or another outcome. This remains a developing story.
