Bianca “Bibi” Elizabeth Ramirez, 34, Nursing School Graduate Who Had Left Her Estranged Husband, Boyfriend Says, Killed in Apparent Murder-Suicide After Burleson Apartment Abduction and 35-Minute Police Chase to Bourland Field Airport in Cresson, Texas

A Burleson police chase on Thursday, October 29, ended with two people dead near Bourland Field Airport in Cresson, Texas. Police say 34-year-old Bianca “Bibi” Elizabeth Ramirez, a mother of two and recent nursing school graduate, was killed after her estranged husband forced her into a vehicle at a Burleson apartment complex and led officers on a pursuit of roughly 35 minutes along U.S. 377. Authorities are treating the case as a murder-suicide. Her boyfriend, Ezekiel Cain, told CBS News Texas she had left her ex after years of emotional and physical abuse.

The Burleson police chase began as an emergency call on a Thursday morning and ended in tragedy a little over half an hour later. Two daughters, ages 9 and 14, have lost their mother and father, and loved ones are mourning a woman her boyfriend calls “a definition of a beautiful soul.”

How the Burleson Police Chase Unfolded

At about 7:45 a.m., Burleson police received a call about an armed man in the 700 block of West Hidden Creek Parkway. Witnesses told police they saw a man outside with a woman before forcing her into a vehicle. Police later said she appeared to have reached police from inside the vehicle, though she was not heard speaking on the 911 call.

Officers located the vehicle, but the driver did not stop, starting a pursuit that lasted more than 34 minutes. The chase headed south toward Chisholm Trail Parkway and U.S. 377. Police Chief Billy Cordell said officers deployed spike strips on the highway and struck both passenger-side wheels. “Despite the damage, the suspect kept driving,” he said.

The pursuit ended near Bourland Field Airport in Cresson, in Parker County. There, officers found both people dead inside the vehicle from apparent gunshot wounds. Police said no responding officers fired their weapons. Several agencies assisted, including three county sheriff’s offices, the Fort Worth Police Department’s Air 1 helicopter unit and the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The Boyfriend’s Account

Cain told CBS News Texas that Ramirez’s estranged husband arrived at her apartment on Thursday morning. She called and texted to warn him. “I remember getting a call from Bianca, and she called me. She said, ‘baby, he’s downstairs. And he said he has a gun.’ And that’s when I immediately called 911,” Cain said.

By the time he reached the parking lot, he said, she had already been taken. Cain said he saw a black Yukon speeding away, and that after dispatchers told him police had eyes on the vehicle, he followed in his own car. “We drove for 30 minutes plus, but by the time I got to the airport in Cresson, it was too late and she was already gone,” he said.

Cain said Ramirez had lived in Mansfield with her estranged husband but had recently moved to Burleson after leaving him following years of emotional and physical abuse. He also said the man had been upset when he learned the two were dating and had threatened to kill him. Those claims come from Cain; police have not publicly described any prior abuse, and said neither the Burleson nor the Mansfield police departments had received earlier domestic-violence calls involving the couple.

Who Was Bianca “Bibi” Ramirez?

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Bianca Elizabeth Ramirez, 34, of Burleson. Family notification added the nickname “Bibi.”

Cain said she had just graduated from nursing school and was set to begin her residency in February. “Her goal was to become a nurse, but the reality was she just wanted to provide a good future for her family,” he said. He described her as caring and loving with her friends, her family and even her patients, and said “she only spoke out of excitement, never exhaustion.”

She leaves behind two daughters, ages 9 and 14, who were not hurt. Cain said they will be raised by her sister, their aunt, and that Ramirez was also like a mother to his own daughter, who has special needs. “She was an amazing, amazing mother and a stepmother. She always talked about our future,” he said.

His request to the public was simple. “If you have kids, hold your babies just a little tighter tonight,” he said. “Honor her by being loving and by showing empathy and sympathy.”

What Police Know So Far

Cordell described the preliminary findings as a suspected murder-suicide. Police said the couple may have been meeting for a civil conversation before the abduction. The estranged husband’s age and other details have not been released, and the medical examiner’s final determinations on cause and manner of death have not been announced. Investigators are still working to piece together exactly what happened.

Support for Anyone Experiencing Abuse

Advocates note that a lack of prior police reports does not mean a person was not afraid, and that the period around separation can be among the most dangerous times in an abusive relationship.

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, free and confidential support is available around the clock. Call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233, text START to 88788, or dial 911 in an emergency.
