Gavan Goodman, 21, of Murrells Inlet, Killed in Motorcycle Crash on Highway 501 Near Sparks Toyota in Horry County

Gavan Goodman, 21, of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, died Wednesday afternoon after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a Toyota Tundra pulling out of Sparks Toyota on Highway 501 in Willard, Horry County, according to Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard. He was pronounced dead at the scene from blunt traumatic injuries. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating, with assistance from Horry County police.

A routine stretch of Highway 501 turned deadly Wednesday afternoon for a 21-year-old Murrells Inlet motorcyclist.

What Happened

Horry County Fire Rescue responded to the area of Highway 501 and Dodge Lane around 3:15 p.m. Wednesday after Gavan Goodman’s motorcycle collided with a Toyota Tundra as it was pulling out of Sparks Toyota, according to Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard.

Goodman died at the scene from blunt traumatic injuries, Willard said.

Investigation Underway

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is leading the investigation into the crash, with Horry County police assisting. No further details about the circumstances of the collision have been released.
