A homicide investigation is underway in Bertie County after a 19-year-old Edenton man was found shot to death Wednesday afternoon in Colerain, North Carolina.
What Happened
Deputies received a call at approximately 3:51 p.m. Wednesday, September 9, reporting a person lying on the ground and not breathing in the area of Nowell Farm Road near Meadow Road. The first deputy arrived at the scene around 4:03 p.m. and found a male victim deceased with apparent gunshot wounds, according to the Bertie County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities identified the victim as Quadarius Holloman, 19, of Edenton. His next of kin has been notified.
Investigation Underway
Investigators with the Bertie County Sheriff’s Office, working alongside the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (NCSBI), are conducting interviews and following up on leads as they work to determine the circumstances surrounding Holloman’s death.
The sheriff’s office is asking anyone who may have seen or heard anything in the area around the time of the shooting to come forward with information.
A Warning About Circulating Photos
The Bertie County Sheriff’s Office said it is aware that a photograph of Holloman has been circulating on social media and is urging the public not to share or repost the image. Authorities warned that property containing the photograph could potentially be seized as evidence as investigators work to document and preserve information related to the case.
