PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. — Aaron and Sherron James have deactivated their social media accounts following a viral confrontation in a Pigeon Forge parking lot that thrust the couple into the center of an intense online controversy.
Aaron James, who has been dubbed the “Kangaroo Man” across social media because of his appearance and behavior during the confrontation, previously released a statement offering his account of what happened before the couple removed their social media profiles.
The controversy erupted after video of the parking-lot encounter began spreading online. The footage shows Aaron shirtless and confronting Tiffany and her husband. While the short clip quickly attracted widespread attention, Aaron argued that the video did not capture the events that preceded the confrontation.
Aaron James Says Viral Video Does Not Show the Full Story
In his statement, Aaron said the incident began when a vehicle allegedly veered into his family’s lane as they entered the parking lot.
According to James, his family stopped to avoid hitting the vehicle, which then drove away. He said that while the family was looking for a parking space, they noticed the same vehicle following them.
James said he and his family believed the other occupants were looking for a confrontation.
After the James family parked and began getting out of their vehicle, Aaron said the individual from the other vehicle also exited.
He claimed the portion of the encounter shown in the viral footage began only after the other individual approached his wife, Sherron.
According to James, Sherron was telling the person to leave her alone and became frightened as the individual continued approaching her.
James said he then intervened, which is where the widely circulated video begins.
Jameses Say They Were Misrepresented Online
The viral footage has generated significant discussion across social media, with viewers forming opinions about the confrontation based largely on the portion captured on camera.
James argued that the clip provides an incomplete picture of what happened and said his family’s perspective has largely been overlooked.
He also accused the people involved of being influencers and described them as “rage baiters,” claiming they intentionally created content designed to provoke a reaction.
James said the controversy has had consequences beyond the internet, affecting both his and his wife’s personal and professional lives.
He also expressed concern about the effect the situation could have on their children.
In his statement, James wrote:
“These people are influencers and, from our research, appear to be rage baiters. We are victims and are fighting behind the scenes for our truth.”
He added that the family did not want to remain silent while being judged solely on the basis of a video they believe was presented without the surrounding context.

Following the viral spread of the confrontation and the subsequent online backlash, Aaron and Sherron James deactivated their social media accounts.
Before doing so, however, Aaron used his platform to ask supporters for understanding as the family dealt with the fallout.
