Lovay Williams, 27, was found beaten to death Sunday inside her Washington Heights apartment, with her 7-year-old daughter present at the scene, according to police sources and the victim’s family. Williams’s relatives, including her father Nuquan Williams, have publicly identified her ex-boyfriend, Tyliek Thompson, as responsible for her death, though police had not officially named a suspect as of this report.
A Manhattan family is mourning the loss of 27-year-old Lovay Williams, who was found beaten to death inside her own apartment Sunday — with her young daughter left at the scene.
What Happened
NYPD officers responded to a welfare check at an apartment building near 535 West 156th Street in Washington Heights shortly after 1:30 p.m. Sunday, September 6, according to police sources reviewed by Bounce Feed. Officers were met at the door by Williams’s 7-year-old daughter before discovering Williams dead inside.
Police say Williams’s face and neck showed signs of severe beating. According to Williams’s father, Nuquan Williams, the 7-year-old girl had been found next to her mother because she believed her mother was simply sleeping — a detail that has raised serious concern among family members about the psychological toll the discovery may have on the child, who reportedly witnessed the aftermath of the attack.
The girl was found unharmed at the scene.
Family Identifies a Suspect
Williams’s family has publicly identified her ex-boyfriend, Tyliek Thompson, as responsible for her death, alleging the attack occurred while the young girl was present in the apartment. As of this report, police had not officially released the name of a suspect, and the identification of Thompson comes from the family rather than a confirmed police statement or filed charges.
Family members further allege that Thompson covered Williams’s body, moved her into a bedroom, and attempted to clean the apartment before leaving. These specific allegations have not been independently confirmed by police based on the information available at this time.
A Family Asking for Help
The Williams family is urging anyone with information about Thompson’s whereabouts, or about the circumstances surrounding Lovay Williams’s death, to contact the NYPD.
“Domestic violence incidents can have devastating consequences for victims, children and entire families,” the family said, reflecting on the depth of the loss — a mother gone, and a young daughter now left to process what she witnessed.

Investigation Ongoing
The NYPD’s investigation into Williams’s death remains active. Authorities have not announced any charges as of this report, and an official account of the circumstances leading to her death is still expected as the investigation continues.
