TULSA, Okla. — Caleb Lopez, a 20-year-old motorcyclist, was killed Monday evening after his motorcycle collided with a Nissan Pathfinder near the intersection of 31st Street and Riverside Drive in Tulsa, according to police.
The fatal crash happened at approximately 7:06 p.m. on June 22, 2026.
Tulsa Police officers and emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and found Lopez suffering from critical injuries.
Despite wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, Lopez was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Nissan Pathfinder, a woman, was also injured in the collision but was treated at the scene for what police described as minor injuries.
How the fatal Tulsa motorcycle crash happened
According to the preliminary investigation and surveillance footage reviewed by authorities, Lopez was traveling northbound on Riverside Drive with a group of other motorcyclists shortly before the collision.
Police said the group appeared to be traveling at a high rate of speed as they approached the intersection.
At the same time, a woman driving a southbound Nissan Pathfinder was attempting to turn left onto eastbound 31st Street.
As the Pathfinder entered the intersection, Lopez’s motorcycle collided with the passenger side of the SUV.
The impact caused significant damage to both vehicles and resulted in fatal injuries to Lopez.
The preliminary findings are part of an active investigation, and authorities have not announced a final determination regarding fault.
Female SUV driver treated for minor injuries
The driver of the Nissan Pathfinder was evaluated by emergency personnel following the crash.
She was treated at the scene for minor injuries and was not reported to have suffered severe trauma.
Investigators also spoke with the woman following the collision before she was released pending the continuing investigation.
No charges had been announced at the time of publication.
Tulsa police investigating fatal motorcycle collision
The Tulsa Police Department’s Advanced Traffic Investigation Unit has taken over the case.
Detectives are examining several pieces of evidence as they work to establish exactly what happened in the moments leading up to the crash.
Investigators are reviewing:

- Damage to the motorcycle and Nissan Pathfinder
- The movements of the vehicles before the collision
