Alisa Goods, 63, was discovered by a homeless man 12 days after airport surveillance footage captured her collapsing near a Las Vegas parking garage — and her family says they’re still searching for answers.
Police have released new details about how the body of Alisa Goods, a 63-year-old grandmother from New York’s Upper East Side, was ultimately found after nearly two weeks of searching.
How She Was Found
According to Las Vegas Metro Police, Goods’ body was located in a drainage ditch near Wayne Newton Boulevard, close to the Terminal 1 parking garage at Harry Reid International Airport. The discovery came from an unlikely source: a homeless man who spotted her and alerted nearby parking attendants, who then called police, according to local Fox affiliate KVVU.
Police say the area where she was found could not be seen from the street — which is likely why her body went undiscovered for 12 days.
Airport surveillance footage, reviewed by investigators, showed Goods falling down an embankment on August 8, then getting back up before collapsing again. Police say there was no further movement captured after that point. That date lines up with the day she was last seen alive — the same day she left a longtime friend’s apartment to run an errand.
Her cause of death has not yet been made public.
The Days Leading Up to Her Disappearance
Goods had traveled to Las Vegas to visit Roger John, a friend of 20 years, staying at his home near the Las Vegas Strip. On August 8, she left his apartment to go shopping and stop at a CVS — and never returned. Both her friend and her family reported her missing within days, according to local NBC and ABC affiliates KSNV and KTNV.
Her family later shared that Goods had recently undergone multiple surgeries on her legs, which had made walking difficult in the time leading up to her disappearance.
A Frightening Twist: Someone Using Her Phone
In the days after Goods vanished, her family says her phone began sending strange messages — requests for money, including Bitcoin — even though her own line had been disconnected. Family members immediately suspected something was wrong.
“It’s not her,” Goods’ niece, Alana Calloway, recalled thinking as the messages came in. She described the moment as breath-stealing, saying it left her unable to catch her breath.
The unsettling messages only intensified the family’s fear as they launched their own search efforts. One of Goods’ daughters, Kristen, flew in from New Jersey to help look for her mother, while relatives combed through hospitals and, eventually, morgues.
The Family Speaks Out
When Goods’ body was identified 12 days after she went missing, Calloway shared a statement on behalf of the family, expressing heartbreak over the outcome no one had hoped for.
“This is an unimaginable time,” Calloway said. “Words cannot describe the pain our family is experiencing right now.”
She also thanked the public and the media for their support during the search, while asking for privacy as the family continues to grieve and awaits more information about what happened to Goods.
Las Vegas police have not yet responded to requests for further comment.

Goods’ daughter, Kristen, has started a GoFundMe to help cover funeral and related expenses. As of Thursday, August 27, the fundraiser had raised more than $17,300.
